MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, Ala. - The Magnolia Springs Town Council unanimously agreed to enter into a contract with Unified Recovery Group LLC for disaster debris removal services.
The council has discussed who to bid the project to for the last few weeks and hoped to finish the process before August and the heart of hurricane season.
"I know it was a lot of work," Mayor Charles Houser said.
Councilman Bob Holk mentioned the Foley-based debris removal group was chosen by the Spanish Fort City Council for similar services. According to reports, the Spanish Fort council could award the bid to Unified at the Aug. 1 council meeting.
"It's not a set dollar amount. It's for services once a storm has come through, and then there's clean-up that needs to be done. The contract is for service as needed. It all depends on how big the storm is or how much damage was done," Houser said.
