BAY MINETTE– The Delta Rendezvous, a new event benefitting area food banks, will be held at Live Oak Landing May 17.

The Rendezvous will consist of three separate events: a fishing tournament, a series of archery tournaments and an indoor craft vendor show.

“It will be a fun-filled day with lots of events going on,” Kristina Angelone said. “It’s all about celebrating the Delta and educating people about outdoor activities, as well as raising funds and food for hunger relief right here in Baldwin County.”

Jason Smith, chief meteorologist for Fox 10, will be the event’s emcee, and the Rendezvous will play host to a number of outdoor activity luminaries. Delta expert and host of the documentary “America’s Amazon” Ben Raines will lead a seminar and big game hunter Joelle bates will help lead an archery class for the children.

Hunter Maples will help instruct people in building duck calls and “Turkey Man” Eddie Salter will give a lecture on hunting.

The Aquatics Education Foundation will lead a seminar to teach children how to fish. The archery tournament will be overseen by the Monroe County Bowhunters Association and the Alabama Bass Federation is assisting with the fishing tournament.

There will also be bow hunting, a petting zoo and games on hand for the children, along with live music and food vendors from across Baldwin County.

The suggested admission for the event is one canned good per person, which will go to the Prodisee Pantry.
