North Pole, Arctic – The Claus family issued this statement on Christmas eve:
"Due to the rampant rumors that my traditional Christmas deliveries have been cancelled, allow us to clarify and reassure our friends on the Gulf Coast of America — especially the children — that we are currently en route, on schedule, and will deliver on time."
"Yes, there has been misbehavior. Some of you have been disobedient to parents and grandparents, disrespectful to teachers and outright mean to siblings.
I continue making my 'list' right up until delivery time. That record-keeping will continue until you get into bed and get to sleep tonight. If you are among the 'bad' names on my ledger, you still have time to turn in good deeds and turn the tide (local humor) in your favor!
I am pleased to report that the number of good girls and boys in your region has impressed me considerably. The warm hearts and giving spirit of children and families along your Gulf Coast has even served as inspiration to believers elsewhere in the world this year.
Your generosity towards those less fortunate . . . your outpouring of love & support for your young peers who have fought challenges – Jacob and Carlin and many others – have touched the souls of your own community, as well as those of Mrs. Claus and myself.
THANK YOU good boys and girls. May your Christmas spirit of giving and gratitude continue to serve as our ideal throughout the new year's calendar and throughout the coming years.
I will deliver on the promise of Christmas."
"Now get to bed, and don't forget a generous supply of treats and milk. The reindeer and I still have a lot of territory to cover tonight between there and Alaska and we need to keep up our energy level." - Santa Claus
