GULF SHORES, AL - The Memorial Holiday week will launch in grand musical style on Wednesday, May 25 at 7 p.m. with a concert by the U.S. Army's "Pershing's Own" Woodwind Quintet in the sanctuary at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church, 1900 Gulf Shores Parkway.
There is no admission charge for the concert and the public is cordially invited to attend. Reserved seating will be available for GSUMC Concert Series sponsors.
Founded in 1996, the quintet is among the Army's premiere chamber ensembles and is frequently called upon in support of high-level military and civilian events at the White House.
The group has established itself as a strong proponent of educational outreach and it not only teaches, but entertains and inspires. While in the South Baldwin area, the quintet will visit Foley High School and conduct a concert and Q & A session with students.
The members also plan a session at Pensacola State College with a performance for students and the Pensacola community.
