USA student’s work to appear in bioethics journal

University of South Alabama biomedical senior Maria Eugenia Balzaretti is the author of an essay to be included in an undergraduate bioethics journal.

The paper, “The Ethics of Wrongful Birth Lawsuits,” was accepted for publication in the fall 2007 issue of The Ivy Journal of Ethics. The online journal is published once a semester by the Bioethics Society of Cornell University.

Balzaretti, a native of Argentina, initially submitted the report as a final assignment for USA’s bioethics course.

Balzaretti said, “It felt wonderful to have my submission accepted, and I am grateful to Cornell University for this tremendous opportunity. I could not have written this paper prior to taking Issues in Biomedical Sciences, USA’s bioethics course. The professors in biomedical sciences have played a significant role in my scientific education.”

USA’s biomedical sciences program is part of the College of Allied Health.
