SPANISH FORT, Ala.—The USS Alabama Battleship Commission has named its Crewmates for the 2011-12 year.

The six young women, who will serve as ambassadors for Battleship Memorial Park and the state of Alabama during the coming year were honored during a recent reception, and each will receive a $1,000 scholarship to the college or university of her choice.

Karen Conner, director of sales and marketing for the park, said the six ambassadors will compete toward the end of their terms for the titles of Miss USS Alabama, who receives an additional $1,000 scholarship, and Miss USS Drum, who receives an additional $500 scholarship.

The newest Crewmates include:

• Seirra Collins-Hampton of Mobile, the daughter of Wanda Collins-Hampton, is a junior at Spring Hill College pursuing a career in sports management.
• Holly Dodd of Mobile, the daughter of Danny and Fran Dodd, is a sophomore at the University of South Alabama pursuing a career in pediatric nursing.
• Amberly Elmore of Mobile, the daughter of Al and Lori Elmore, is a junior at the University of South Alabama pursuing a career in elementary and special education.
• Kim Gegenheimer of Irvington, the daughter of William and Terry Gegenheimer, is a sophomore at the University of South Alabama pursuing a career in nursing.
•  Katie Patterson of Mobile, the daughter of James and Catherine Patterson, is a sophomore at Spring Hill College pursuing a career in elementary education.
• Madison Wildman of Theodore, the daughter of Christie Bishop and the late Steve Wildman, is a sophomore at the University of South Alabama pursuing a career as an event coordinator.
