Editor,

The 15th Annual Dr. John E. Foster Memorial Charity Golf Tournament was a great success. The tournament benefits the United Way of Baldwin County’s United Medical Partnership for Children (UMPC). The program provides basic medical needs, such as visits to the doctor or dentist, for Baldwin County school children not covered by health insurance. To date, the tournament has raised more than $160,000 for UMPC.

I would like to thank the many individuals, sponsors and participants who made this year’s tournament possible. Special thanks go to those individuals who worked diligently to organize the event: tournament chair Rhonda Herndon and Tommy Herndon with Golden Living Center-Foley, The Golden Girls — Pam Dorsey, Paula Foshee, Cynthia Jordan, Felisa Powers, Grace Washington and committee members Pam Engel, Julie Hunley, Kathleen Johnson-Harmon, Janis Weaver and Kathy Melson. As always, Tim Cahill and his staff at Glenlakes Golf Club in Foley arranged a wonderful day of golf for everyone involved.

Tournament sponsors gave generously. We appreciate Golden Living Center-Foley and South Baldwin Regional Medical Center for their long-time corporate support.
