Valecia Elaine Mears McCraney, 82, a native of Chunchula and a resident of Fairhope for over 50 years, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Elaine was a long-time member of Fairhope Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy McCraney and son, Brad McCraney.
Mrs. McCraney is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Pete) Yruegaz, Fresno, Texas, and Christina McCraney, Huntsville; son, Wade (Julie) McCraney, Little Rock, Ark.; nine grandchildren, P.J. Yruegaz, Phillip Yruegaz, Thelma Flint, Pamela Yruegaz, Stephen (Natalie) Yruegaz, Scott McCraney, Kyle (Emily) McCraney, Miranda Dodd and Marissa Newsome; five great-grandchildren, Stephen, Annabelle, and Madalynn Yruegaz, Christopher Flint and Braxton McCraney; sisters, Elizabeth Till, Teddy Mears, Gay (Charles) Hendrickson; and brothers, Jack (Doris) Mears and Eugene (Helen) Mears; multiple nieces, nephews and other extended family, friends and neighbors.
Visitation services were May 10 at Missouri City Funeral Directors, Missouri City, Texas. A memorial service was May 15 at Fairhope Church of Christ.
