Valerio “Val” Ciancetta, age 62, a native of Steubenville, Ohio and a resident of Daphne, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011.
He was an active member of Christ The King Catholic Church and a former active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Warren, Ohio.
Val graduated from Franciscan University receiving a BA in Chemistry, leading him to a 40-year career in the steel industry. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed reading and cheering on his Pittsburgh Steelers.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Ciancetta of Daphne; his daughters, Christine Ciancetta of Daphne and Adrienne Ciancetta and her fiancé, Paul Sarran both of Chicago, Ill.; his mother, Pauline Ciancetta, of Steubenville, Ohio; his sister, Sharon Allen of Milford, Del.; and his beloved companions, Rocky, Cheerio and Barnacle.
Val was preceded in death by his father, Valerio Ciancetta Sr.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne.
The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. at the church.
