James Charles “Charley” Vannoy, 67, of Seminole, died Monday, June 16, 2008 at a local hospital.

He was born Sept. 12, 1940 in Big Spring, Texas, and was a resident of Pensacola since 1942.

He was an employee of Big 10 Tires for a number of years and was the founder and former president of Vannoy Tires Inc.

He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and a member of The Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Hadji Temple, The American Cancer Society and the National Rifle Association.

He was well known and loved for his kind and loving spirit and was blessed with many friends whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marian Reid and Frederick L. Vannoy.

Survivors include his wife, Leila Morton Vannoy; two sons, Gregory Vannoy and Todd (Ashley) Vannoy; two grandchildren, Danielle and Tristan Vannoy; brother, gordon (Evelyn) Vannoy; sister, Katherine Forster; sister-in-law, Nancy (Ramon) Price, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, Cantonment, Fla. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19 at Trinity Presbyterian Church.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, The Hadji Transportation Fund, Trinity Presbyterian Church or to the charity of your choice.
