Bobby Chad Vaughn, 71, a resident of Fairhope, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007.
He was a graduate of Marshall County High School, as well as being the class president all four years; and Penn State University.
He was an educator and band director at Sampson High School, where he was awarded Educator of the year.
Through his professional music career he received many awards of recognition. His mentoring and leadership enabled many of his students to become professional performers. His love of children and his passion for education were preeminent in his lifetime of work.
He retired from Volkert & Associates in Mobile, as vice president of construction management.
He was a member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church and was an active member of numerous professional organizations, including General Robert E. Rodes Sons of Confederates. He was an active Kentucky Colonel and an Eagle Scout.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie and Etta Marsh Vaughn.
Survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Ann Pool Vaughn of Fairhope; four daughters, Melanie (Ronnie) Lenoir of Huntsville, Valerie (Pat) Neely of Guntersville, Allison (Chris) Kattos of Atlanta, and Rachel (Scott) Ham of Guntersville; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Clara Sherrill of Boaz and Vergie McClendon of Guntersville; special friends, the White family and the Russell family.
The family requests memorial donations be made to FUMC Caring Ministries or Boy Scouts of America.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Fairhope United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. with graveside services at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Arab Memorial Cemetery.
