The Gulf Shore Police Department apprehended a robbery suspect yesterday morning after a six-hour pursuit, officials said.
Kacey Wade Griffin of Foley was arrested at 11:02 a.m. after being found in an unoccupied home. The chase involved K-9 units, Foley Police, Orange Beach Police, and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department. Air support as from ALwas also enlisted in the search.
“We tracked him for six hours. We’d jump on him, he’d run,” public information officer Lt. Bill Cowan said. “It was like a pinball machine. He kept bouncing from place to place.”
The pursuit began after police received a call from Magnolia Bay Condominiums on West 36th Avenue reporting several vehicle break-ins. Police confronted the suspect upon arrival. Griffin fled on foot, dropping a knife.
Griffin has been transferred to County Jail with multiple charges, including burglary and resisting arrest. More charges are pending as police track victims.
“Sometimes, amazingly enough, people don’t even call it in, thinking they will never get their stuff back,” Cowan said. “We’re tracking down people, saying, ‘Hey, we have your stuff. Please fill out a report.’ There are two or three charges coming today.”
