Verna Mae Ishmael, 93, formally of East Moline, Ill., and resident of Fairhope, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at a local hospital.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Lawrence “Bud” Ishmael, “the love of her life;” parents, Henry and Vera Meyer; and grandson, 1st Sgt. Darrell D. Ishmael.
Mrs. Ishmael is survived by her son, Lawrence “Lonnie” Ishmael (Judy), Huron, Ohio; daughter, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Green-Thompson (Tom,) Daphne; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be on Thursday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at Memory Gardens of Fairhope. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church at 8717 Fairhope Ave, Fairhope, AL 36532, or charity of choice.
