BAY MINETTE, Ala. — There are many people in Bay Minette who have served and fought for our country. There are even more who are still serving and fighting today.
The AP Government and Economics class would like to honor these brave ladies and gentlemen at the Veteran’s Day assembly. The assembly will be held at Baldwin County High School on Wednesday, Nov. 7. You do not have to be a resident of Bay Minette or even Baldwin County to be recognized.
As long as you are considered a veteran, you are eligible to attend. To be recognized in this assembly is a huge honor! It shows that you are a leader, and care. Care for our Country, State, and even the city of Bay Minette.
You would not be required to move heavy material, sing, or dance. The whole assembly will be for you. Afterwards, you will be treated to refreshments by the AP Governments and Economics class.
Please consider this, and tell as many people as you know who are eligible. If you would like to be recognized, or know someone who may, please contact Misty Morries at mmorries@bcbe.org. You may also call the front office at (251) 937-2341 to contact her.
EcoAction Club have been recycling around the school. Every Friday, the members gather the paper from each teacher, and then they take the paper to a nearby recycling bin. One day the club hopes to have their own recycling bin to be placed at Baldwin County High School.
Friends’ of Exceptional Students is a club that allows students to interact and befriend special students that attend their school. The special students hosted a Halloween party for FES members on Halloween day during their lunch wave. FES members will host a party for the special students on the next get together, which will probably be Thanksgiving.
If you have not paid for your FES shirt, you need to go talk to Mrs. Harris as soon as you are able!
Attention students! Do you have pictures that you would like to be in the Balcoala Yearbook? Well, you can bring them to room (307). They can be from a trip this summer, a football game, or any activities.
The National Anthem Choir meets Tuesday mornings at 7 in the BCHS choir room. It is open to anyone who would like to come and listen and join the fun!
Key Club will be collecting Coke tabs for the Ronald McDonald House throughout the year. Last year, they received $7,000 from recycled Coke tabs. Bring your tabs by Mrs. Owen’s or Mrs. Miller’s room.
On Halloween day, students had the opportunity to give blood, which resulted in BCHS's first blood drive for the 2007-2008 school year. The BCHS Key Club sponsored the drive. Each student that gave blood, saved three lives! Good Job BCHS!
The 2008 seniors ordered their senior suppiles Oct. 26. It's unbelievable how fast this year is going by! Before you know it, the seniors will be graduating high school, traveling to the next chapter in their life.
Seniors, are you preparing yourself of what you plan to do, after you graduate? If you plan to attend college in the fall of 2008, keep in mind that many colleges deadlines are coming up for admission. You need to make sure to check your emails for scholarship opportunities.
Mrs. Warfield is sending emails to all the available addresses for any scholarships that she may receive. If you do not have email access, check the counselors’ office for any financial aid that you are eligible for.
