Vic (Clyde Victor) Underwood, age 73, a resident of Summerdale, Ala., passed away Monday, June 29, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Sherman Underwood.
He is survived by three children, Laura Bodenmann (John) of Summerdale, Ala., Will Underwood (Angela) of Summerdale, Ala. and Shane Underwood (Anna) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; five grandchildren; and by his brother, Terry Underwood (Mary Ann) of Magnolia Springs.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
A graduate of Auburn University, he returned home to Baldwin County to spend his life farming.
An active member of Marlow United Methodist Church, he sang in the choir, served in several leadership positions and was a vital part of the men’s club.
His interests, which he shared with many friends, included history, fishing, raising chickens and promoting awareness and use of native plants and trees in local landscapes.
Vic enjoyed hosting family, friends and neighbors for community fish fries under the old oak tree.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 3, at Marlow United Methodist Church on County Road 9. Visitation is at 10 a.m. in the historic sanctuary, followed by the service at 11 a.m. in the new worship center.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to support the mission of the Marlow United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 430, Summerdale, AL 36580) or to the Vic and Ruth Underwood Memorial Scholarship Fund made payable to the South Baldwin Education Foundation (P.O. Box 1600, Foley, AL 36536).
