SPANISH FORT, Alabama — The Vigor Wolves held Spanish Fort's top two scorers in check and beat the Toros 57-36 to capture the Class 5A Area 2 championship on Monday.

The Wolves held Toros 6-foot-10 center Jaleel Cousins and shooter Reagan Eubanks to just 21 combined points en route to the win. Cousins was coming off a double-double on Friday against Gulf Shores and a triple-double over Robertsdale in the regular season finale for the Toros.

Vigor led 13-9 after one period and held a 32-19 lead at the half. The Wolves put the game out of reach and extended their lead to 43-24 after three periods.

Vigor, who hosts St. Paul's on Friday in a sub-regional, was led by Hakeem Whitsett's game-high 18 points and Jacoby Glenn's 10.

The Toros, led by Eubanks' 11 points and 10 from Cousins, will travel to Faith Academy for a sub-regional on Friday.
