Richard Cecil Vinson, 59, a native and resident of Stapleton, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at his residence.

He was a model maker with Pensacola Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla., and he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Sue Kneer Vinson of Stapleton; two children, Tiffany Michelle Vinson of Birmingham and Timothy Jacob Vinson of Auburn; three brothers, Larry Vinson of Raleigh, N.C., Gary Vinson of Troy and Randy Vinson of Perdido; and two sisters, Diane Homan of Stapleton and Betty Raby of Tigerville, S.C.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12 from the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with the Rev. Kelly Brown officiating. Burial followed at Old Stapleton Cemetery. Military honors were rendered by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

Pallbearers were Junior Byrd, David Boardman, Dwight Raby, Zack Raby, David Raby and Waylon Vinson.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 19059 Greeno Road, Fairhope, AL 36532 or to Wiregrass Hospice, 9037 Independence Avenue, Daphne, AL 36526.
