Volunteers needed for annual Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival

FOLEY, Ala. — The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce is looking for a few good volunteers to make sure one popular annual event gets off the ground in early May.

The Chamber is currently seeking volunteers to help in various roles during the 11th Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival, presented by Tanger Outlets, which will be held May 1 and 2 at the Foley Sports Complex.

Danielle Faircloth, Events Manager for the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, said the event always benefits from the help of local volunteers.

“There are so many opportunities to volunteer at the Hot Air Balloon Festival,” Faircloth said. “I think we usually have about 300 volunteers total throughout the weekend.”

Faircloth said this is an opportunity for individuals, families, school, civic and church groups to volunteer their time for an outstanding community event.

Along with opportunities to volunteer in various concession tents, Faircloth said people have the option to help the balloon teams.

“People can volunteer to work alongside  the flight teams, and help them throughout the day,” Faircloth said. “That’s always a really fun experience for the people.”

Volunteer opportunities are on a first come, first serve basis, and all volunteers will receive an official t-shirt and volunteer parking pass.

To learn more about volunteer opportunities at the festival, or to register as a volunteer, log on to http://www.southbaldwinchamber.com/Chamber_Events#id=379&cid=362&wid=1101.

Volunteers can choose the area, shift and day that works best for them.

Over the past 10 years, the Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival has welcomed thousands of visitors from across the United States and has generated more than ten million dollars back into the local economy.
