Fred W. Vosloh III, 75, a native of Warren, Ohio, and a resident of Foley since 2001, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 in Foley.
He was a proud 1957 graduate of the University of Florida where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was a member of the Masonic Order of Mystic Shrine, Erie, Pa., and Forest Hill Masonic Lodge, Cleveland.
He was a mechanical engineer and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for over 50 years. He designed, without the aid of computers, the clamshell bucket system which is currently being used to widen the Panama Canal.
He was an elder, Stephen minister and former deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Foley. He was a good, honest, gentle man. He loved children, children loved him and he loved God. He was an avid golfer and active member and officer of Glenlakes Men’s Golf Association. He was a longtime volunteer for Habitat For Humanity.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 1/2 years, Dorothy Esenwein Vosloh of Foley; three children, Tim Vosloh of Destrehan, La., Ruth Vosloh Hollard of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Fred William Vosloh IV of Seattle; eight grandchildren, Dean Vosloh, Brooke Vosloh, Valentin Hollard, Emma Hollard, Julie Hollard, Margaux Hollard, Camryn Vosloh, Annika Vosloh; two brothers, David Vosloh and Robert Vosloh, both of Foley.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16 at First Presbyterian Church of Foley. A private interment will be held at a later date.
