James Wilton Wallace, 67, of Boone, N.C., died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, in Foley.
He was born Sept. 11, 1942, a son of Clarence Emory Wallace and Savine Lewis Wallace Fell Carlson.
He served with the U.S. Army, serving two tours of duty as a paratrooper in Vietnam. He then joined the National Guard which gave him 17 years of combined service. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Cherokee Indian Tribe. He was proud of his family and his heritage. His request was that his body be donated for medical research.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two half-brothers, Doyle Fell and Clyde Dean Wallace; half-sister, Mizelle Wallace Trawick; and step-father, Russell C. Fell.
Survivors include his former wife and mother of his children, Judy Daphne Wallace Sanclimenti of Boone, N.C.; two sons, Emory (Becky) Wallace of Boon and William (Melinda) Wallace of Mountain City, Tenn.; two daughters, Debra Wallace Klein and Emma Wallace Dishman, both of Boone; eight grandchildren, John, Adam, Christian, and Emory Wallace, all of Mountain City, N.C., Justin Dishman, Megan Cox, Phillip Klein, and Mikayla Klein, all of Boone; one great-grandchild, Aiden Cox of Boone, three half-brothers, Eugene (Emma) Fell and Joseph (Renee) Fell of Lillian, and William "Wally" (Linda) Wallace of McDonough, Ga.; a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 1030 Big Hill Road, Boone, N.C., 28607.
