Walter Prodouz, age 88, of Daphne and Houston, Texas went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012.
Walt was the son on Andro Prodouz and Jennie Lesehensky of Stoughton, Mass where he was born. At three months old, he moved to Texas and considered that his home until he retired to play golf in Daphne. In 1942, he joined the Navy and served proudly during World War II on the USS Thomason and later the USS Chickasaw.His career with Halliburton began with Western Precipitator where he installed antipollution equipment and traveled all over the world, Germany, England, France, China, and South Africa. For months at a time he was away from home, but never without his golf clubs. His dedication to the game is evident with his three “hole in one” plaques. He was an active member of Spanish Fort United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Ellen, on July 23, 2009. Survivors include his son, O. T. Goens (Helena) of Birmingham; daughter, Pam Wideman of Montgomery; two grandsons, Grant Goens (Melissa) of Wylie, Texas and Coleman Smith (Megan) of Montgomery; two granddaughters, Beth Patrick (Michael) of Atlanta and Missy Tillery (Jeffery) of Oneonta; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at 1 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m. at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church.
