Wanda Hayes Crosby, 85, a native of Indiana and a resident of Foley, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010 at the home of her daughter.

As proprietor of the Foley Kiddie Kollege from 1954 to 1993, she touched the hearts and minds of thousands of children. They affectionately remember her as their first teacher.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Foley and the Dorcas Esther Sunday School Class. She and her husband were members of the South Alabama Senior Travelers group for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Crosby.

Survivors include two sons, Jay (Sylvia) Crosby of New Orleans and Dennis (Lynda) Crosby of Bon Secour; a daughter, Connie (Randy) Caldwell of Foley; a sister, Betty Hirz of Fairhope; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, plus two more on the way.

The family would like to thank Janet, Covenant Hospice for all their wonderful staff and nurse Kelly, and Home Care Companions for Lillie. She was blessed to have wonderful caretakers in her life these last few days.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27 at First Baptist Church in Foley. Burial will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
