Mary Emma Ward, 86, born Aug. 18, 1922 in Monroe County, the daughter of James Henry and Lelia Dean Spears, and a resident of Fairhope for almost 60 years, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009.
She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Fairhope.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Burney Ward.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Linda) Ward of Northhighlands, Calif., and James (Alice) Ward of Duncanville, Texas; eight grandchildren, Rhonda Minchew, Kimberly Pickron, Wayne Ward Jr., Jim Ward, Michael Ward, Jeffrey Ward, Max Ward and Roxanne Ward; and special friends, Jacky and Carol Reeves.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 26 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
The family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of Fairhope building fund 300 South Section St. Fairhope, AL 36532.
