ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — Columbia Southern University (CSU), is teaming with Krebs Architecture and Engineering to present a water and sewer facilities workshop Aug. 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at CSU, 21982 University Lane (off Foley Beach Expressway) in Orange Beach.

The fee is $25 per person and includes lunch.

“This workshop is designed to provide a quality Alabama Department of Environmental Management-approved training for certified water and waste water operators that is affordable to all communities in Alabama,” said Yolanda Devine Johnson of Krebs.

Cecile Adam Nelson, Special Programs supervisor for CSU, said the class gives water and sewer operators an opportunity to earn continuing education hours (CEH) which are required in their respective fields.

The workshop will be broken down into two sessions. The first, “Sanitary Sewer Collection System Rehabilitation 101,” will be taught by Danny Holmberg, Krebs’ Montgomery, Ala., branch manager. “The most important thing that participants will gain from the first session is that there are specific methods for sewer system investigation and evaluation,” Holmberg explained. This session provides three CEHs.

The second session starts after lunch and addresses “Water Storage Facilities Design and Maintenance.” That portion of the seminar will be led by Jason Dearing, Krebs’ Birmingham, Ala., project manager, and will examine effective strategies for water distribution system tank design, operation and maintenance.

Attendees will gain two CEHs from this session.
