Joan P. Watson, 65, a native of Milton, Fla., and a resident of Daphne, died Sunday, June 14, 2009 after a short, brave battle with cancer.

After retiring from a 30-year career with the State of Florida Insurance Commissioners Office, she lived in the north Georgia mountains. Shortly after her husband’s death, she relocated to Daphne, where she will be long remembered by countless friends.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Don Watson and their precious pet, Petitee, as well as her father, Artell Peaden and her sister, June Pugh.

Survivors include her mother, Inez Peaden of Milton, Fla.; three sisters, Sandra Fay (Steve) Zepp of Clermont, Fla., Nan Hudson of Milton, Fla., and Sue Shattuck of Orange Beach; eight nieces and nephews, Leslie, Dale, Chad, Michael, Kyle, Tiffany, Brittany and Julie; and her adorable pet, Itsy Bitsy.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne.
