Louie L. Weatherford, 82, a native of Neshoba County, Miss., and a resident of Spanish Fort, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 in Mobile.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1947. He graduated from Mississippi College in 1952, then taught school before moving to Florida in 1956.  He was a mathematician and computer programmer at Eglin Air Force Base for many years. After retirement, he served as a volunteer in the Guardian Ad Litem Program in Okaloosa County, Fla. He was a member of East Pointe Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a former member of First Baptist Church, Crestview, Fla., where he served as a teacher and deacon from 1957-2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Hoye and Maudie Bell Johnson Weatherford; three sisters, Bonnie Dee Tullos, Patsy Shaw and Mildred Rush;  and two brothers, Lenton Velpo Weatherford and William Henry “Bill: Weatherford.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Nadine Pierce Weatherford of Spanish Fort;  two sons, Kerry (Patti) Weatherford and Dexter Weatherford, both of Mobile; two daughters, Valerie (Bob) Evans of Orlando, Fla., and Jeanine (Robert) Hall of Vicksburg, Miss.;  five grandchildren, Shelley (Jeb) Tingle of Vicksburg, Miss.,  Amy (Jon) Armstrong of Daphne, Matthew (Sarah) Weatherford of Grovetown, Ga., Kay (Kelley) Grenon of Troy and Susan (Brian) Burkhalter of Yuma, Ariz.;  and seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Mary Beth and Alex Tingle,  Grace and Jack Armstrong,  Lohrelei Weatherford and Henry Grenon.

Funeral services and visitation were held Tuesday, Dec. 29 at East Pointe Baptist Church in Spanish Fort. A committal service was held Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Bethsaida Baptist Church, Neshoba County, Miss.
