Each Wednesday the faculty and staff of Silverhill Elementary School honor their school nurse by wearing their Nurse Jami shirts. Jami Salac has been the nurse at Silverhill Elementary School since October 2006. During her assignment at Silverhill Elementary School, Nurse Jami developed many personal relationships with teachers, staff, students and parents because she has a caring nature and a loving heart.

In November of 2011 Jami was diagnosed with Melanoma and had to go on medical leave to receive treatment. To show support for Nurse Jami a fund raiser was organized by Shea Reed, school registrar and Carmen Godfrey, parent and fellow nurse. A walk/family fun day was held on February 11th. Many people from the community took part in the event. To show their continued love and support the students of Silverhill along with the art teacher, Laurie Jordan, created a collage as a gift for Jami to remind her how much she is loved.

If you would like to make a donation to help Nurse Jami and her family please make your donations to Journey for Jami at United Bank.
