I would like to share with you a day in the life of an employee of the Baldwin County Revenue Commission.
Our day begins at 8 a.m. with phone calls from property owners upset with the taxes placed on their property. The majority of the time these phone calls escalate to a very harsh density with name calling that is unfit for the most seasoned ears.
We have been called by just about every word that needs a lye soap clean-up, and yet we are expected to sit and listen to this filth for eight hours a day, don’t think so — we do not have to listen to your garbage.
To the vast numbers of you that have called in upset with your taxes but complained in a decent manner, I would like to say thank you for your patience and support of this office.
I have worked with Mr. James P. Nix Jr. for several years now and have never faced a day without knowing that he is serving the public by which he was elected. His door has always been open for the public to drop by or make an appointment to see and talk with him about their concerns.
He is a decent man that can be trusted to do what he says he will do and this goes both ways — with the public and the employees. For all the times that Mr. Nix has been put down, there are that many more that show a positive attitude about the situation and the way he handles his office.
He is a boss that can and will stop what he is doing and go to the aid of an employee that might be having trouble with a computer program or any of several daily jobs, and help the employees solve the problem. Mr. Phil is a Christian family man that loves the Lord, and this county.
Our office does follow the guidelines of the Code of Alabama and the guidelines of the State Revenue Department in our appraisal of properties. Now, as in the past, we will continue to do the best job we can in serving the public in Baldwin County, Alabama.
