Wharf announces nightly light show

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - As part of the newly designated entertainment district’s 100 Days of Summer Campaign, new Wharf owner Art Favre is investing in experiences at the Orange Beach shopping, dining and entertainment center that will entertain both local and visiting families.

Anchoring that re-engineering effort will be The Wharf’s Sound and Light Spectacular, a state-of-the-art installation delivering popular, surround sound music set to choreographed lighting effects on palm-lined Main Street. The show, which provides a multi-sensory entertainment experience on par with productions found at the Disney and Universal theme parks, will start on May 24 and continue through Labor Day Weekend with showtimes nightly at 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Former Disney executive Troy Lindquist of the Profun Management Group in California created the show, which is called SPECTRA.

“We like to call it, ‘Theater of the Mind,’’’ Lindquist said. “It’s definitely a new attraction for the Gulf South region.”

Construction and installation for the project has already started, and the new attraction is just one of the property enhancements, inventive attractions, and new partnerships and venues that represent Favre’s significant capital investments in the Wharf.

ProFun Management Group brings more than 250 years of shared experience and an independent spirit to the management and operation of theme parks, entertainment centers, visitor centers, attractions and other leisure-time projects.

“Our work has taken us all over the world, exposed us to diverse cultures and challenged us to deliver unique experiences for the people who visit our attractions year after year,’’ Lindquist said.
