If my memory serves me correctly, we already spent many thousands of dollars, held many meetings, many drawings, many consultants supposedly to do something that would make a difference in Gulf Shores.
We were going to have a fountain at the “T,” main street was going to be moved back a block, restaurants, lodging, special areas for parking, good walking areas, spent/wasted so much of taxpayers’ money, so why don’t we just pull all of that already planned and develop it. It was great.
Why do our city leaders want to waste more money to pay more consultants to do more of the same. If they are really serious, just pull out the old plan.
This lack of action was not the result of Ivan, although many would say that is the cause. One man now owns all three corners of the “T” and what I see is not what was on any of those plans. There has been a lot of recovery on our beaches since Ivan and Katrina, none of it the “PLAN” So where is it, and why not use it. After all we all agreed it was great, right?
Surely I am not the only one is this town who remembers all of this. Discussion was made to decide where to start Gulf Shores, north or south of the (intracoastal) waterway. So much to improve the image of Gulf Shores, so why has it not happened.
City leaders, I am disappointed in you.
