Hey, do you ever wonder about the groups that animals are divided into? Well in science, first-graders are learning about those groups and they are also learning about the lifecycles of the different kinds of animals. 1B reports it has been fun to start a new story and to read in small cooperative groups, trading sets of books as they finished one set. They are also learning about solid shapes, what they look like and how they can be moved from place to place.

Do you ever wonder how the muscles in our bodies help us move? Well, the third-graders are learning about that so we will be able to quiz them about it.

Have you ever wanted to run your own restaurant? The fifth-graders are sharing the menus for their fictional restaurants. They all chose a restaurant theme and designed the menu based on the theme. They are using adjectives to describe the various food items.

On Saturday, March 29, four CKCS students traveled to the University of South Alabama to compete in the state MathCounts competition. The team did very well competing against students from 23 schools who excelled in their regional competitions. Leading the CKCS effort was Allen Davis who was 20th overall. The other CKCS team members were Lucy Johnston, Liam Treutel and Will Anderson.

The eighth-graders are anxiously waiting for Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb to confer the sacrament of Confirmation on them on Tuesday, April 8 at 7 p.m. in the church. These children will receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and enrich their religious lives.
