DAPHNE, Ala.—Thank you to our second-graders for their awesome performance at this month’s PTA meeting. All of the students—and teachers—did a great job of preparing for the “show.”
Thank you also goes to our third-grade choir, The Golden Tones, for their performance.
As always, everyone did a great job! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The DES Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 8. Parents are invited to attend.
Mid quarter was Monday, April 27. Only four short weeks left of school.
The kindergarten classes are taking a trip to the Gulf Shores Zoo after studying zoo animals. They have also been learning about the job zoo keepers do at zoos—feeding, cleaning cages, etc.
They are also getting ready to start practicing for their end of the year programs. They hope parents and family members will make plans to attend the performances.
Mrs. Hawes’ kindergarten class enjoyed learning about seeds and plants. They planted bean seeds and had fun watching them grow into plants. They may even eat beans from their own plants this summer!
Mrs. Utsey’s class had a wonderful time at the Bay Shore Ballet’s production of “Coppelia.” We decided that our favorite character was Dr. Coppelius. We also enjoyed Elsanor School’s production of “The Jungle Book.” The children did an awesome job.
Congratulations to Ja’Juan Myles for being chosen as our Shining Star of the Week.
Also, congratulations to Stephen Walding and Madison Parke for being chosen as Principal’s Pick for April.
Third-grade classes are busy!
They are still learning about many of the nation’s symbols such as the Statue of Liberty.
They are also working hard on their multiplication facts! All third-grade classes visited Alligator Alley and Weeks Bay last week. Kids and teachers alike all came back tired but with great big smiles! Wonder who held the baby alligator?
Mrs. Dickson’s third-graders are working hard on their geography theme. They have learned about Germany. Come see what counties they are going to learn about next!
Scholastic Book Fair is being held in the library this week! Please stop by during school hours! A percentage of all proceeds go to benefit the DES library. Construction has begun on the new school library, and it is hoped that Mrs. Tindell and her books will be in their new home by the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year.
The P.E. classes are practicing for field day activities. They are enjoying the Australian games that will be used for field day on Friday, May 8.
The coaches would like to thank Ms. Pam for helping out with field day. She always volunteers her time for the students—you’re awesome Ms. Pam!
Mrs. Nolfe’s third-grade Project Jubilee students are returning from their overnight trip to Coastal Wonders where they explored the ‘outdoor classroom’ down by the bay.
Next week look for the students’ reactions to their trip.
Can’t wait to hear what they did!
