Daphne Elementary will be celebrating Youth Art Month in March with a family art show called “Picture Me Creative.” The students, staff and families of DES will be displaying their talents in art, music, writing, song, dance, photography and any other form of creativity that inspires them. Please stop by to enjoy the show.
Mrs. Hawes’ class is learning about planets. Everyone loves our planet Earth and want to take care of it by keeping it clean. The students learned a song that taught us the names of all the planets. Students know that Jupiter is the biggest planet and Pluto is not really a planet. They wrote stories about our planet Earth and drew pictures to illustrate our stories. It is fun learning about the planets.
Mrs. Davis’ class is wrapping up their study of our government. They are getting ready to learn about Australia. This week they researched an Australian animal and will write about it. Eveyrone was looking forward to the Mardi Gras break and the time off from school.
Mrs. Utsey’s class has been learning about our rights and responsibilities as citizens of the US. Even as second-graders, as citizens the students (and parents, too) have very important responsibilities!
Everyone had fun at our school Mardi Gras parade! Thank you kindergartners for all the fun throws!
Congratulations to Walt Cassady for reaching the 100-point club in Accelerated Reader points. He has earned a special after-school ice cream treat!.

Mrs. Nolfe’s third-grade Project Jubilee students had great fun with Operation Egg Drop last week. This week they wrapped up their unit on The Magic of Physics with a study of sound. The students will be making a straw flute and playing their own water orchestra. “Sounds” like great fun!
