DAPHNE, Ala.— Many thanks go out to our PTA and parent volunteers who spent a lot of time helping our students shop last week at the Santa Shoppe. The students were very happy and proud with all of their purchases and can’t wait to see the faces of their family and friends when opening their special gifts!
The Daphne High School Choir performed Christmas music for our students on Monday in the auditorium. This was an event enjoyed by students and teachers alike.
Kindergartners in Ms. Jackson’s class are learning about “The Nutcracker” and different Christmas legends. Friday the class will attend the Nutcracker ballet in Mobile. Next Thursday, the students will have a “Polar Express” Party. They will watch the movie and have a special snack of hot chocolate and popcorn.
Mrs. Csakvary and Mrs. Hopkins’ classes are beginning to learn about many different holidays that are celebrated around the world in the winter. The classes are looking forward to their class field trip and Christmas party!
Mrs. Pierce’s and Mrs. Clayton’s classes are studying about Christmas traditions around the world. They will travel from class to class and visit the eight different countries. In those countries the students will complete an art activity and enjoy food native to that country. The classes are reading “The Tale of Despereaux,” and will see the movie next week. The classes will then compare the book and the movie.
In science, Ms. Phillips’ first-graders are finishing a study on forms of energy and are beginning to study the different holiday traditions. They are looking forward to their Christmas Around the World project and the field trip to see “The Tale of Despereaux” at the movie theatre. So far the class is halfway through the book, which is very exciting!
Mrs. Davis’ second-grade class has been busy making Christmas gifts for their parents. They are finishing up their AR for this quarter. Hopefully the whole class will have reached their AR goal by Thursday. The class is looking forward to having their AR Christmas cookie celebration on Friday!
