Mid quarter is Monday, Nov. 17.

Daphne Elementary School would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of our veterans. Thank you for your dedication to our nation and the service you have provided!

Team ABC (Absolute Best Chefs) participated in the annual SEEDS Mamma Mia Cook-Off this past weekend.  Team ABC consisted of Jan Palmer, principal; Pam Jones, assistant principal and chef; Ginny Clayton, first-grade teacher; Shaynna Riel, first-grade teacher; Leslie Johnson, counselor; and Kim Nolfe, Project Jubilee teacher.  The Team ABC entry was Tuscan soup and boy was it delicious!  The entry won second place in the Carne (meat) division. Thank you to all who participated!

Mrs. Hawes’ kindergarten class is learning to compare numbers in math. The students are learning the terms “more,” “less,” and “equal.” They sure think it is fun to find things that are equal.

Mrs. Clayton’s first-grade class is learning about air and weather.  The class will learn about instruments the meteorologist uses such as wind vanes and anemometers. Everyone is excited about their upcoming field trip to see “Pinocchio.”

Mrs. Davis’ class is learning about the colonists. The students are also learning about giving thanks. The class is getting things ready for their big annual Thanksgiving feast.

Mrs. Nolfe’s third-grade Project Jubilee class visited Greek Fest last week. While there the students toured the Greek Orthodox Church and were given a lesson on the many beautiful icons throughout the sanctuary.  Students also viewed a puppet show about Greek life, as well as local Greek dancers.  Before leaving, students and parents were treated to a traditional Greek meal.

This week the students will continue their study of the election process and their presidential research.

Research presentations will be made Friday, Dec. 5.
