Thank you to all the third grade and kindergarten students who performed for our winter PTA meeting Monday night. The teachers and students did a great job in preparing and performed a fantastic program. Merry Christmas!

Kid’s Corner is open for business! Kids Corner gives children the opportunity to shop for their loved ones on “their own.” Parents may send money for their child to make purchases. PTA parents/volunteers assist the children in their gift choices and in paying for their purchases.

Santa pictures had to be rescheduled and will be taken on Dec. 14. The pictures will be returned by Dec. 19.

Ms. Jackson’s kindergarten students are learning about “The Nutcracker.” They attended the ballet Friday.

They are also getting excited about Christmas. The class is going to learn about all the different legends of Christmas, candy canes, and Christmas trees. They will end the year with a pajama party and the movie, “The Polar Express.”

The kindergarten children in Mrs. McGinty’s class really enjoyed making their own gingerbread house this week!

They also listened to various versions of the gingerbread story, including Jan Brett’s “The Gingerbread Baby.” They compared and contrasted the differences between the “Gingerbread Man” story and the “Cajun Gingerbread Man.”

Mrs. D. Smith’s and Mrs. V. Smith’s kindergarten students are busy making Christmas ornaments for their Christmas tree and decorations for the classroom. The students made a wreath of love, peace and joy, and a poinsettia as a symbol of giving.

First-graders in Mrs. Pierce’s room began their show-and-explain writing. Students bring in an object of interest and do expository writing about the object.

Mrs. Riel’s first-grade students started subtraction.

Mrs. Bailey’s second-graders have learned about three Indian tribes. They created a history pocket to give information on these tribes. It has been fun to compare these people and how they lived many, many years ago.

Second-graders in Mrs. Davis’ class will be learning about different traditions around the world during this time of the year.

Mrs. Davis wants to congratulate her character education students of the month: Gracie Paulson and Clark Hurst.

The class wants to welcome a new student: Jacob Quist. They are happy to have him in their class.

Students in Mrs. Blackman’s third-grade class are working hard to learn their multiplication tables. They should be finished with all their facts by Christmas.

In Mrs. Bowen’s third-grade class students are continuing this week on persuasive writing.

Their spelling words are th, wh, ch, and sh words. The class will read the story about “The Terrible EEK!” and sequence events in order.

Third-graders in Mrs. Dickson’s class are working hard to learn their multiplication facts. They are also beginning a study of the solar system and Christmas Around the World.

Mrs. Megginson’s third-graders performed for the December PTA program on Monday night. They sang familiar Christmas songs including “Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer,” “Do You Hear What I Hear?” “Frosty, the Snowman,” “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire,” and “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!”

Mrs. Nolfe’s third-grade Project Jubilee students are working on their own optical illusions this week.

The students are also preparing for an unexpected field trip. They are going to watch a theatrical performance of “A Christmas Story” at the Pensacola Little Theatre.

It’s beginning to FEEL a lot like Christmas!

Please don’t forget to label your child’s jackets, sweatshirts, gloves, and hats.

Also, if your child has lost an article of clothing, please check in the office lost and found.
