SPANISH FORT, Ala. — The votes are in.

Rockwell students voted Will Smith as their Student Council president.

He said in his campaign speech, “I am a hard worker. I was mowing the grass the other day. I was blistered and sweating like Coach Holston teaching us the ‘Soulja Boy’ dance. But I didn’t give up!”

Madison Powell, elected treasurer, cheered her speech.

Taking a cue from the classic film “The Wizard of Oz,” Taylor Pierce had asked students to please “follow the yellow brick road” to her.

We had our first fire drill and tornado drill at Rockwell.

After announcements, the fire alarm rang loudly. When we got in the hallway, everyone quickly and quietly streamed out from the building.

When we got back inside, our teachers showed us where we should go in case of a real tornado.

We got down on our knees and covered our heads with our hands. We stayed like that for about one minute.

Everyone at our school was very busy preparing for Open House.

Students worked hard to decorate the hallways and classrooms.

Rockwell was full of proud parents!
