DAPHNE, Ala.—For a limited time, the 2008-2009 school yearbooks are now on sale for $30. They will be more pages than last year but still the same price. Remember—if paying by check, please make sure the following are listed: student name and teacher should be added to the notes section and phone number and driver’s license number should be listed.

Sixth-grade Night at the Gym is scheduled for March 13. It will be a fun evening of games and activities that the students love. The cost will be $10 and dinner will be served. The time is from 5:30 until 8 p.m. All of the proceeds from this event will go toward the purchase of our new playground equipment. Space is limited to the first 50 students who sign up.

Project Jubilee recycles used laser and inkjet print cartridges, old cell phones, PDAs, iPods, digital cameras, laptops computers, video game systems, and video games. We are able to redeem the equipment for points that can be used to purchase technology equipment and classroom supplies. The items can be dropped off at the school office. We welcome local businesses that might want to sponsor our school in this recycling effort. Please contact Mrs. Blair Heald through the school office if you have any questions.

A big thank-you to all of our LCD mount volunteers. Their gracious donation of time and skill means we have successfully mounted LCDs in every classroom that has a Promethean Board in use. It could not have happened with out these wonderful volunteers: Mr. Jay Parke, Mr. Ronny Champion, Mr. Ken Basque, Mr. Nathan Carraway, Mr. Chuck Carraway, Mr. Chris McKay and Mr. Scott Spradlin. We appreciate you so much!

Don’t forget to clip and save Campbell’s Soup UPC codes as well as other labels and send them to our P.E. Department. To find out what other product UPC codes can be saved visit the website: www.labelsforeducation.com. Our P.E. Department is also collecting Box Tops for Education. Many General Mills and Pillsbury products have box tops to cut. To find out what products to buy visit these two websites: www.boxtops4education.com and www.tyson.com/projectaplus.

If you ordered cookie dough through the school library, make sure tomorrow is marked on your calendar. That is when the cookie dough is expected to be delivered.

There is still time to register for and participate in the SEEDS Classic Rock 5K & Fun Run. According to the SEEDS Web site at http://www.seedsindaphne.org/, “Area running enthusiasts and hundreds of Daphne students, parents, and teachers  will once again hit the streets for SEEDS on Saturday morning, March 7, 2009, for the Classic Rock 5K & Fun Run, SEEDS fifth annual spring road race fundraiser. The 5K race will start near Daphne Public Library on Main Street at 8 a.m. and follow a mostly flat, loop course through the downtown area. Participants in the Fun Run (approximately 1 mile) will take off from in front of Centennial Part (across from Daphne  City Hall) at 9 am and finish near Daphne Public Library. A big Post-Race Party – and an awards ceremony featuring Rock & Roll Hall of Fame merchandise for top runners, a live classic rock band, grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, soft beverages, door prizes and plenty of activities for kids—will provide a fun family morning through 11 am. Parking will be available in the Daphne Civic Center complex area and, where allowed, in Olde Daphne near Centennial Park – with shuttle service provided between the two locations.” Please consider supporting the event. Through their grant program, many of our teachers have brought enrichment and equipment to their students that might have never happened. SEEDS truly supports our schools.
