DAPHNE, Ala.—Fifth-grade students are using the slogan, “Trees Are Terrific… In Cities and Towns.” Walking through our halls, you can see the posters students made with the slogan on it. It talks about trees and where they should be planted. There are many tall trees in our area such as spruce, oak and pine.

Every student created a poster with the slogan as a theme. Each class voted for the best poster; one was selected to be the school winner. Congratulations to Sarah Carson in Mrs. Angela Stewart’s room as she was awarded that honor.

Many thanks to the Daphne Beautification Committee, which supported this event.

We are ready to hang LCD projectors in the last remaining instructional classrooms on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 4 p.m. If you can assist call the school office at 626-0277 and leave your name and number for Mrs. Blair Heald.

Sixth grade is learning about algebra skills. They are learning about variables for numbers and how to solve for the variables. They have learned about different mathematic properties, such as the distributive, commutative and additive properties.
