We mounted some of our LCD projectors to classroom ceilings this past week. We will be purchasing additional kits for all remaining classrooms very soon. We are looking for volunteer parents, friends, and family members who have the technology expertise to install these kits for us. We would like to begin as soon as possible. Please call Blair Heald through the school office for more information.

Report cards will go home on Oct. 17.

The Honors’ Breakfast is scheduled for  Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7:20 a.m. All “A,” “AB,” and “Star” students receive a special breakfast for the outstanding  academic achievements. Do not drop off students before 7:20 as there will not  be enough adult supervision in addition to the breakfast not being ready  until the scheduled start time. The breakfast ends at 7:45.

In Mrs. Michelle Henderson’s  fifth-grade class, they are learning about singular and plural possessive  nouns in English. They are starting with singular nouns and then going into singular possessive nouns. Then they would do the same thing with plural and  plural possessive nouns. For example, they would use “family’ as the singular word and turn it into the word “family’s” for the singular possessive  noun. Then they would put “families” as the plural form and “families’ ” as  the plural possessive form.

In Mrs. Kelly  Agee’s fourth-grade science class this week, they are  learning about the different planets. The inner planets are closest to the  sun and the outer planets are farthest away from the sun. Earth is the only planet that supports life. It is the fifth biggest planet in the solar system and is 4.6 billion years old.

The Citizenship Club officers for the 2008-09 school year are: Josh  Gardner, president; Hannah Spradlin, vice president; and Morgan Davis, secretary. Congratulations to the winners!

In P.E., our students are about to begin physical fitness testing. Twice a year, students test their fitness and try to earn the national or presidential fitness awards. The students take part in the shuttle run, sit-and-reach, and mile run. They also do as many pull-ups,  sit-ups, and push-ups as they can.

This year, our school is becoming very tech-savvy. The  school has Promethean boards known as interactive white boards, and students  take reading and spelling tests online. The school even has two computer labs, one with the computers the school had in the computer lab last year, and one with brand new computers.
