The Baldwin County Public School System has scheduled Parent University for Saturday, July 26. It will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Foley High School. The purpose is to communicate with and engage parents and guardians through small breakout sessions on how to be more involved as partners with the Baldwin County Public School System in the educational process of their children. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to learn some of the more pressing issues confronting students in the 21st century. Parents will be asked to pre-register by completing a form and returning it to the school no later than Friday, May 9.

Our Field Day has been set for May 9. There will be a fourth-grade and a fifth-grade winner, along with some great stations for the students. One is Carnival Time. For $5, students will receive a carnival wristband and may participate in activities such as bubble blowing, hair spray paint, blow-up obstacle course and much more. There will also be competitive games in the gym, wet water activities and relays, races and a tug-of-war. Parents and family members who believe they can volunteer their time to make this the best field day ever may contact through the school office Coach Elizabeth Jennings or our PTO president, Mrs. Elizabeth Lemieux.

Ms. Stephanie Johnson’s fourth-grade class is learning about the time period after World War I and the Great Depression. During that time, many families lost their homes and had to move in with relatives when the stock market crashed. Others had no place to go as they had no relatives.

Please don’t forget that our school Web site will soon permanently change from www.daphneelementarysouth.com to www.wjcintermediate.com, effective April 25. The address www.wjcintermediate.com can be used immediately.
