Welcome back from our Mardi Gras holidays. We hope that everyone had a safe time with family and friends.
Supporting Educational Enrichment in Daphne’s Schools is gearing up for the fourth annual road race fundraiser, the Classic Rock 5K and Fun Run, to be held March 1. Proceeds from this event help fund their Classroom Enrichment Grant Program that has distributed over $48,000 to teachers in the five Daphne public schools and Christ the King School since 2005.
If you’ve taken part in the race before, you know how much fun it is. If you’re new to the Daphne schools or have not attended previously, we hope you’ll join your coworkers, students and parents for the biggest community event of the season. Nearly 1,000 people signed up last year and — with your help — this year will be even bigger.
The School Program campaign began on Feb. 6 and will run through the following Friday, Feb. 15. The homeroom class with the best participation wins a Classic Rock party that will be scheduled later in the spring! Family members may sign up through the school campaign.
Thanks in advance for your support of this great event. If you haven’t already done so, please visit the SEEDS Web site at www.seedsindaphne.org to take the 2008 SEEDS survey. (Click on the “What's Happening” tab to find the survey link.) They need your input as they plan the work of the foundation for the coming year, so tell them what you think today.
Don’t forget about our PTO meeting Feb. 11. It is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Science Fair winners will be announced. The Science Fair projects will be on display.
There is a half day for the students on Friday, Feb. 22
Students will be dismissed at 12 p.m.
