In P.E. this past Monday, Mrs. Michelle Henderson’s fifth-grade class got their pictures taken doing different activities.

The pictures have been put up on the “12 Days of P.E.” bulletin board in the gym lobby. Each day shows the students involved in different physical activities.

Mrs. Elizabeth Jennings, our P.E. coach, and Ms. Youndora Knight, the P.E. aide, did a great job on the bulletin board.

This week, Mrs. Henderson’s class read a book about the Boston Tea Party.

Students learned that Britain put a tax on tea even though they lowered the price. They also learned that colonists continued to refuse to buy the tea because of its unfair tax. After they read the book, students filled out a chart saying what they would be willing to pay an extra unfair tax on and what they could do without to avoid unfair taxes. Some students said they would pay extra for their television and video games. Many students said they wouldn’t pay an extra tax on school.

Our Math Boosters program will be starting after Christmas holidays. This is an afterschool program that helps our students with math skills. More information will be coming soon.

Our annual Geography Bee is fast approaching. Right now, each regular classroom is conducting a class bee to determine the student who will participate in the school bee, which is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 17.
