I would like for you to publicly explain why you give Dean Mosher editorial space in your paper each week. Everyone is aware Mr. Mosher was a defeated candidate in the last mayor’s election. He presented himself to the voters and was rejected.
During the campaign, he bought advertising space in your paper. There he gave his thoughts about how the city government should be run. This is as it should have been. It seems now you and Mr. Mosher have already begun the next mayor’s election campaign. Without knowing who the candidates will be, you are giving Mr. Mosher your endorsement by giving him free space to week-after-week criticize Mayor Kant. Mr. Mosher never brings forth positive ideas, only criticizes his successful opponent.
Maybe I don’t understand what is good for our city. I must admit though, I don’t think giving a rejected candidate a free ride to criticize the mayor that was chosen by the voters is a good thing.
The mayor and council are struggling to find common ground from which they can govern Fairhope. This is not at all unusual when there is a change in the form of government as Fairhope is experiencing.
It is correct that your reporters report these difficulties for the consumption of your subscribers. You, as editor, should inject yourself into the fray as you see fit. I ask what is the purpose of Mr. Mosher’s weekly pitiful tirade?
