Thomas Warren White, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at Oakwood North Baldwin Center for Living in Bay Minette.
He was born April 27, 1919. He retired from civil service at Pensacola Naval Air Station and Brookley Field as a helicopter mechanic. He was the oldest son of Bessie and Tom White.
He was a hero, having landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day and served in the European Theatre during World War II in the U.S. Army and a member of Bay Minette Masonic Lodge No. 498, F & A.M. and served as past master and was a lay minister for most of his life and freely served God and people.
His life was an inspiration to all who knew him. His humility and gentle love blessed many people. His greatest joy was his family and he was the best “PawPaw.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Hazel Story, Betty Hatcher, Kenneth White and Arnold White.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Eula Digmon White of Bay Minette; three daughters, Sheila (Larry) Steiner of Mobile, Sharon (George) Blais and Kay (Randy) McDill, both of Bay Minette; eight grandchildren, Ashley Kelly, Wes Steiner, Les Steiner, George Blais III, Thomas Blais, Sheree Blais, Benji McDill and April Todd; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vern Miller of Foley and Norma Daniels of Gulf Shores; brother, Lawrence White of Bay Minette; a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. held Monday, March 1 at Bay Minette Cemetery.
