Arthur White, 86, a native of Perdido and a resident of Stockton, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 at his residence.

He was a self-employed carpenter and farmer. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Corp. and he was a member of White/Lee Chapter of D.A.V.

He was preceded in death by his parents, to Walter and Clara King White; his wife, Allie Mae White; granddaughter, April White and great-grandson, Joshua White.

Survivors include two sons, David Allen White and Johnny White, both of Stockton; brother, Bernard White of Perdido; six grandchildren, Regina Godwin, Allen White, Melinda Jackson, Larry White, Kimberly White and Jason White; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22 at Pleasant Plains Pentecostal Holiness Church with Thursia Long and the Rev. James Peacock officiating. Burial will follow at Bryars McGill Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Allen White, Aaron Godwin, Wesley Jackson, Donnie White, Wayne Ganey and Norris Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Rabun Volunteer Fire Department.
