Last year, the City Council listed as an accomplishment a 2 percent sales tax. This was done without any adjustments within its own employee base.

Lawsuits ad attorneys now cost Fairhope about $60,000 a month or more. In 2010, it will certainly be more as there are more lawsuits coming.

Attorney fees are about 1 percent or ore of the panic button sales tax. So don’t believe that 2 percent is actually being used for the benefit of the city of Fairhope as the council has explained.

Another disturbing fact is the new “Reversal Policy.” In Planning & Zoning recently, a reversal eliminated environmentally friendly buffers for cheaper setbacks. In the works now is a planned reversal of tree ordinances.

Ask yourselves who benefits from these law reversals.
