Wilber Gene Darnell passed away in his home Jan. 15, 2013.
Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty years Patricia B Darnell, who passed in 1999. Gene was born March 18, 1931 in Arab Ala., to Hugh and Velma Darnell. He spent his early career, in sales and service and ultimately combined his love for travel with a career in trucking until his retirement in the late 80’s. He loved good country music, conversation and the old west and will be remembered most for his sense of humor. He is survived by his daughters, Laura Leak of Arab, Patty Staton of Decatur, Mary Gorrie of Cumming Ga., and son, Kerry Darnell of Cumming Ga., four grandchildren, Angie Young, Amanda Bodine, Emily Staton and Julie Staton. His caregivers were TLC, Inc. and Hospice of Marshall County who did a wonderful job in caring for Gene in his last months and days. His private viewing, service and funeral were under the direction of Adams Brown Funeral home in Albertville, Ala., with the Eulogy delivered by Pastor Bill Ford of Parkway Presbyterian Church of Cumming Ga. He was laid to rest next to his loving wife in Marshall Memory Gardens, Albertville, Ala.
