ROBERTSDALE, Ala. —Get ready once again to take a walk on the wild side as Robertsdale Elementary School sponsors its annual Wild Game Night on Thursday, Feb. 26 in the cafeteria and multi-purpose room at the school.

The RES Parent-Teacher Organization is teaming up with Campbell Hardware to host the event, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.

“This is a safe family event that provides lots of fun for everyone,” said RES PTO President Stephanie Kroll.

Admission is free and tickets can be purchased to play games with opportunities to win tons of door prizes.

Tickets for the buffet-style meal will cost $6 for adults; $3 for students and teachers and will feature a variety of items including jambalaya provided by Café Acadiana of Silverhill; potato salad by The Bake Shoppe in Robertsdale; a roasted pig by caterer Chad Stapleton; gumbo by Stevie’s Kitchen and a variety of exotic meats provided by Farm Fresh of Robertsdale.

For the not-so adventurous there will also be hamburgers, hot dogs, fried fish and mac and cheese, Kroll said.

A silent auction opens at 5:30 p.m. and closes at 7:30 p.m. with items including a .22 rifle, rods and reels, provided by Campbell Hardware; golf outings provided by Rock Creek Golf Club; a gift certificate for braces by Island Orthodontics; teeth whiting by dentist David Northcutt of Northcutt Dental in Fairhope; gift certificates from Styx River Shooting Range; and a variety of other items including gourmet baskets, plants, messages, jazzercise, wreaths and restaurant gift cards.

The event will also include a variety of local vendors and special guests, including Gary Finch of Gary Finch Outdoors.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the construction of a sidewalk connecting Robertsdale Elementary and the school playground.

Proceeds will also help provide special needs equipment for the playground and will go toward expanding the school’s fitness and wellness playground as well as providing picnic tables and bench seating for the facility.

“We are continuing in our efforts to make the playground as accessible as possible to the community at large,” Kroll said. “We want the facility to be user friendly for the public and welcome everyone to come out and use it.”

Wild Game Night was first started by Principal Faye Sheppard when she was an assistant principal at Central Baldwin Middle School and carried the tradition over to Robertsdale Elementary when she became principal five years ago.

“This is good family fun,” Sheppard said, “and it’s a way to bring the entire community together in support of the school.”

Tickets will be available for purchase at the door on the day of the event. For more information call the school at 251-947-4003 or Campbell Hardware at 251-947-2291.
