William Charles Gravat Jr., 81, a native of Baldwin County and a resident of Fairhope, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010.
He sold insurance for 50 years and enjoyed meeting new people, turning clients into life-long friends. His personal philosophy was “walk in integrity and you will walk securely.”
He was a member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church and various community organizations. He was an avid Auburn Tigers supporter and golfer. He was a devoted family man.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Charles “Chuck” Gravat.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Ruby Soesbe Gravat of Fairhope; daughter, Valerie Rodriguez of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; son, Matthew (Shonda) Gravat of Eustis, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Diane Gravat of Fairhope; six grandchildren, Michelle Gravat Rains, Mallory Rodriguez, Ashley Rodriguez, Aleah Gravat, Brad Gravat, Landon Gravat; three great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Rains, James Charles Gravat and Chad William Gravat.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28 from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
